Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, producer Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta and director Anurag Singh attended the teaser launch of one of the biggest films of 2026, Border 2. The event was memorable for various reasons, especially the bond between Sunny and Varun.
Varun Dhawan said, “After a long time, I have been so nervous and emotional. An actor puts all his hopes on his film and hopes that the audiences appreciate his performance. For me, the biggest thing was to share screen space with Sunny Deol.”
As he said this, he touched the feet of Sunny Deol. Sunny hugged him warmly. Varun added, “Genuinely sir, I thank you so much for giving all of us the chance to work with you.”
Varun Dhawan then revealed, “My shooting began first. Sunny sir arrived four days earlier. Anurag and I were wondering, 'Yeh itni jaldi kyun aa rahe hai? Kya karna chahte hai?'! For the first time in my career, I saw an actor, who is also a mega superstar, do this. He would come, sit on a chair and observe the shooting aaram se. He would not say anything.”

The young actor continued, “He made me very comfortable. During my first scene with Sunny sir, he shouts, 'Hoshiar'. When he uttered my character name for the first time, I got a bit scared. I didn't tell this to him, but I took Anurag aside. I told him, 'Yeh toh bilkul Sunny Deol ki tarah kar rahe hai'. Anurag replied, 'Bhai, yeh Sunny Deol hi hai na. Toh waise hi karenge'!”
Varun further stated, “I had to pinch myself. Since my childhood, he's been my hero. I saw Border (1997) multiple times in Chandan Cinema and also saw the film again many times on television. And then to see him in front of me was a huge deal for me.”
Border 2 releases in cinemas on January 23, 2026.
