It’s that time of the year again when Bollywood Hungama looks back at the best of the previous year. Like every year, 2025 also saw its share of some good and great films. These films also had some of the finest performances. Here’s looking back at the lead acts that impressed the most in the bygone year.
Best Actor (Male): Ranveer Singh – Dhurandhar
Ranveer Singh played an undercover spy in Dhurandhar. However, he didn’t go about doing action and dialogue-baazi, as is expected from heroes in mainstream Bollywood action films. As per the demand of the storyline, have gave a restrained performance and, at times, underplayed his character. Plus, he had a number of fine performers as co-stars. Yet, Ranveer came out with flying colours and became a major reason for the films earth-shattering success.
Best Actor (Critics’ - Male): Vicky Kaushal – Chhaava
After Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), Vicky Kaushal had another turning point in his career last year in the form of Chhaava. The actor, quite literally, gave his everything while playing the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. This was seen the most in the ending scenes where his character goes through extreme torture. If his act during that period didn’t move you, nothing will.
Best Actor (Female): Kriti Sanon – Tere Ishk Mein
Kriti Sanon won the same title last year for Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which released in 2024. Last year, she gave not only a hugely different performance as Mukti in Tere Ishk Mein but also one of her career best. Her portrayal of a complicated character that goes through different emotions and moods was something that the audience and critics couldn’t help applauding.
Best Actor (Critics’ - Female): Yami Gautam Dhar – Haq
Yami Gautam Dhar has been giving fine performances consistently ever since she made her debut with Vicky Donor in 2012. She gave a noteworthy act in 2024 in Section 370. Last year, she raised her bar even higher with Haq. Her role as Shah Bano had complete honesty and no overdoing whatsoever. She shined the most in the courtroom scenes, which became the highlight of the movie.
