Veteran actress Sridevi bid farewell to the world on Saturday night in Dubai. The actress, who was in Dubai for Mohit Marwah’s wedding last week, was found dead in her hotel room. The autopsy report termed ‘drowning in bathtub due to unconsciousness’ as the cause of death. As the Kapoor and Ayyapan family, Indian film industry and the nation mourns the death of Sridevi, media coverage of her untimely demise has been very insensitive and horrifying.
Dubai was following its standard procedure before handing over Sridevi’s mortal remains too the family. As it took more than 48 hours to bring her back to Mumbai, Indian primetime news channels and regional channels made some horrifying speculative stories over her death. Television’s frantic reporting on sudden demise really angered the film fraternity.
Bollywood celebrities like Farhan Akhtar, Riteish Deshmukh, Vidya Balan, Shekhar Kapur and other slammed the media for stooping low. Even Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter and in his own way called out the insensitivity.
There’s no bottom in the barrel of the graceless.

In a perfect world, the Indian film industry would come together, identify every news outlet that stooped to such lows in their coverage of #Sridevi and cut them off... Show them they can't get away with this! But then again, in a perfect world, she would still be alive. R. I. P.

.. and finally as #Sridevi takes her last journey tomorrow from her home to the cremation ground , all the ugliness created by speculators will be burnt to ashes too. One day we will look back ourselves and ask, why are we so ghoulish? Were these really fans that loved her?

It’s a bloody circus. Some of the TV channels have dug new lows for themselves.
Let’s give #Sridevi Ji & her family the dignity & respect they deserve.

It is very very sad the way certain news channels are treating the passing of a lady, a daughter, a wife and most importantly, a mother of 2 young girls.. agreed, she was an actor n the ppl want to know details, but this?? #sridevi ji sorry but they won’t let you even RIP ????
