Bhumi Pednekar has taken a moment to soak in the overwhelming response to her latest web series Daldal, which recently premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The actor shared an emotional note on social media, acknowledging the love pouring in from audiences across the world and reflecting on how deeply the reception has moved her.

Sharing her gratitude, Bhumi wrote, “This last week with Daldal has been nothing short of a dream. I can’t believe this has happened. I just can’t. It’s been so long since I’ve felt love like this. Am still pinching myself.” She went on to describe how the global response to the show has left a lasting impact on her. “Thank you. I find myself pausing often, just breathing it all in. The love, the honesty, the way you’ve engaged with this story and Rita.”
The actor noted that while she always believed in the sincerity with which Daldal was made, the scale of appreciation has been unexpected. “I knew Daldal was made with honesty, but the response, the love, the appreciation, the fact that we are trending globally, all has left me full of hope, courage, and motivation for what comes next,” she added. Bhumi also shared that she has personally read messages from viewers, writing, “I’ve read every message. And I carry them with me. Thank you for giving Daldal so much heart.”
The post drew warm reactions from members of the industry. Bhumi’s Daldal co-star Samara Tijori dropped red heart emoticons in the comments section, while Dia Mirza also showered the actor with love. Author-director Tahira Kashyap praised Bhumi’s performance, writing, “You were Rita and Rita was you! So so so good.”

Earlier, Bhumi had spoken in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama about the intense preparation that went into portraying her character Rita, calling Daldal one of the most demanding projects of her career. “My prep was about three to three and a half months. Every day, an hour and a half, we would just sit on the script and read scenes,” she revealed.
The preparation extended well beyond rehearsals. Bhumi explained that the team invested significant time in understanding Rita’s psychological and emotional background. “We spoke about her childhood, her trauma, her triggers, everything,” she said, adding that she also underwent multiple sessions with psychologists. “They actually got me to do multiple sessions with psychologists, who work with criminals, to understand criminal psychology.”
Attention was also paid to how the character looked and moved. “She doesn’t want to be noticed. If someone sees her walking in a market, they wouldn’t think she’s a DCP,” Bhumi noted, highlighting the deliberate choices around costume and body language.
She further stressed that the makers were conscious of steering clear of clichés. “We didn’t want to make her masculine in a man’s world, but we also didn’t want glamour. She’s flawed, broken, earnest only about her job,” the actor said.
