en Bollywood News Bhooth Bangla makes HISTORY for Akshay Kumar; FIRST film to credit him as producer instead of his production house

The trailer of Bhooth Bangla was unveiled yesterday and it has already become a talking point on the internet. It features Akshay Kumar not just as a lead actor but also as a producer. In the past, Akshay has worn both caps in several films, but Bhooth Bangla stands out. This is because this is the first time that the credits mention Akshay Kumar as a producer.

Bhooth Bangla makes HISTORY for Akshay Kumar; FIRST film to credit him as producer instead of his production house

Until now, Akshay Kumar has always avoided mentioning his name as a producer and he preferred to mention the names of his banners – Hari Om Entertainment, Grazing Goat Pictures or Cape Of Good Films.

Akshay Kumar turned producer in 2008 with Singh Is Kinng. One of the production houses involved with this comic caper was Hari Om Entertainment. Akshay then made several films under this banner like De Dana Dan (2009), Tees Maar Khan (2010), Patiala House (2011), Thank You (2011), Joker (2012), Khiladi 786 (2012) and Airlift (2016).

In two of his productions, both Hari Om Entertainment as well as Cape Of Good Films are mentioned – Khatta Meetha (2010), Boss (2013) and Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014). He also started Grazing Goat Pictures in 2011, which produced films like OMG Oh My God (2012), Fugly (2014), Singh Is Bliing (2015), the Punjabi film Bhaji In Problem (2013) and the Marathi flick 72 Miles Ek Pravas (2013).

Finally, it is Cape Of Good Films under which Akshay Kumar has made maximum films, including Bhooth Bangla. These films are The Shaukeens (2014), Baby (2015), Rustom (2016), Naam Shabana (2017), Toilet - Ek Prem Katha (2017), Pad Man (2018), Kesari (2019), Good Newwz (2019), Laxmii (2020), Durgamati (2020), Sooryavanshi (2021), Atrangi Re (2021), Raksha Bandhan (2022), Ram Setu (2022), Selfiee (2023), OMG 2 (2023), Sarfira (2024), Kesari Chapter 2 (2025) and the Marathi flick, Chumbak (2018).

The only exception was the crossover flick Breakway (2011). It was released in India as Speedy Singhs and featured a different logo of Hari Om Entertainment. The word ‘Hari Om’ was mentioned along with Akshay Kumar Productions. In the end credits, Akshay was credited as one of the executive producers.

Coming back to Bhooth Bangla, it is also produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and directed by Priyadarshan. Besides Akshay, it stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Mithila Palkar, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Rajesh Sharma, Manoj Joshi and others. It is all set to release in cinemas on April 17 with paid previews from 9:00 pm on April 16.
