Actor Bhavya Gandhi, best known for his portrayal of Tappu in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), recently revealed in an interview that he still enjoys watching old episodes of the popular sitcom. Bhavya, who played Jethalal’s son for several years, finds the earlier episodes hilarious, not only because of the content but also due to his personal memories from the set.
Bhavya Gandhi reflects on watching old episodes of TMKOC: “It seemed more hilarious”"I do watch it," Bhavya shared. "In fact, a few days back, I was on bed rest for about one and a half months due to an injury. During that period, I spent half my time watching the old episodes. It seemed more hilarious to me because I was also aware of the backstory. So, whenever I watched any episode, I would recall how the scene was shot and the environment on set," he told Pinkvilla.
Life After TMKOC: Moving on from Tappu
Bhavya left TMKOC in 2017 and was later replaced by Raj Anadkat. However, Anadkat also exited the show after a few years, and the role of Tappu is now played by Nitish Bhaluni. Despite his departure, Bhavya’s portrayal of Tappu continues to be cherished by fans of the show, with many praising his chemistry with the rest of the cast.
New beginnings: Bhavya's comeback as a villain
After taking a break from television, Bhavya is making a much-anticipated comeback, this time playing a negative role in the show Pushpa Impossible. Speaking about his new character, Prabhaas, Bhavya expressed his excitement about the shift from playing the innocent Tappu to an unpredictable and complex antagonist.
"Stepping into the role of Prabhaas is a delightful experience for me. This is my first time playing a negative character, and it’s very different from Tappu," Bhavya shared in a conversation with IANS. "Prabhaas is unpredictable and deeply troubled, with a calm exterior that hides intense inner turmoil, making him dangerously fascinating."
A return to Television on familiar ground
Bhavya is returning to the small screen on Sony SAB, the same channel that aired TMKOC, and he couldn’t be more thrilled. "Returning to television with such a complex character on my home channel Sony SAB is incredibly exciting for me," he added. Fans are eager to see how he takes on this new challenging role, which marks a significant departure from the lovable, mischievous Tappu.
