Anupria Goenka, Rajat Bedi, Shaad Randhawa and Taaha Shah had an interesting conversation about OTT, cinema and a lot more on the second day of the Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest and India Entertainment Awards 2025. Shaad Randhawa, considered the lucky charm, as he has been a part of many successful or memorable films, including the two sleeper hits of the year, Saiyaara and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, shared a very heartening incident.
Shaad Randhawa said, “In Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, my role on paper wasn't that exciting. Director Milap Zaveri told me that they would work on my role a little. I spoke to lead actor Harshvardhan Rane about it. He told me, 'Don't worry. We'll work on our track'.”
Shaad Randhawa added, “I forgot about it. I went on the set and I was told by spot boy that 'Sir aaye hai'. I saw Harsh bhai standing with the script. He told me, 'Bhai, you speak the first 5-6 lines'. Those were his lines. I asked, 'Why?'. He replied, 'Mera character yeh kehte hue accha nahin lagega. Yeh aapka character bolna chahiye'.”
There were claps from the audience at this moment. Shaad Randhawa continued, “Later, I realized that he was not trying to improve my role. He was being collaborative towards the entire film. He was right about it. He said, 'Jab tak har role balance nahin hoga na film mein, toh maza nahin aayega'. I have rarely seen an actor do that. All actors are selfish, including myself. But what I learned from him to look at the overall picture.”
He also said, “There were more instances. In every scene, I was there but he would always glance at me, giving my character an importance. These small things really matter.”
