Actor Babil Khan, son of the late Irrfan Khan who succumbed to cancer in 2020, has sharply criticized actress-model Poonam Pandey's recent fake death stunt intended to raise awareness about cervical cancer.
Pandey's management initially announced her death via an Instagram post on February 2, causing shock and grief among fans and celebrities. However, she revealed the next day that it was a publicity stunt to spark conversations about cervical cancer. This move has drawn flak from many, including Babil Khan.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Khan expressed his outrage, stating, "I don't know what the f**k that was about Poonam Pandey's demise, but it just feels wrong. I'm trying not to care but it is making me feel really angry. Awareness can be spread, faking statements of death should not be something that we rely upon to do so as individuals in a collective society."
He further stated, "Bro long story short, this is the worst way to raise awareness about cancer and my intuition roars sensing malice. PLEASE DONT F*** WITH CANCER AWARENESS."
While Pandey has apologized for hurting people, defending her intention to spark conversation, the stunt has backfired significantly.
