Actor Ayushmann Khurrana paid a heartfelt tribute to filmmaker Imtiaz Ali on the occasion of his birthday, celebrating both the director and his recent release Main Vaapas Aaunga. The actor took to social media to share a video of himself singing a cover version of the film’s song ‘Tere Paas Mein’, impressing fans and industry colleagues alike with his soulful rendition.
Alongside the video, Ayushmann penned an emotional note praising Imtiaz Ali’s storytelling and the impact the film had on him. He wrote, "Happy birthday @imtiazaliofficial sir. Thank you for giving us #MainVaapasAaongaa… Such a nostalgia laden poignant relevant film. It's going to be remembered as a classic. Thank you for inspiring us to opt for pure art over everything else. My grandfather also belonged to sargodha and I could literally see the hardships of our forefathers in front of my eyes. Being a partition geek I couldn't stop my tears from flowing like the rivers of Punjab. It's like a classic novel where characters come alive, where story is laced with analogies and metaphors.”
The actor also expressed his admiration for the cast, crew, and music team behind the film. He added, “Thank you @naseeruddin49 saab, @diljitdosanjh bhaaji, @sharvari and @vedangraina (pls keep singing bro) and the entire cast and crew for being a part of this emotional opus. The tribute post soon garnered attention from fans and members of the film fraternity. Vedang Raina was among the first to react, commenting, “How beautiful man!!! Love your voice and this medley. Lots of love,” along with white heart emojis. Sharvari too expressed her appreciation, writing, “AK! You are simply the bestest of the best!
