Just after the announcement that Subhash Kapoor got in Akshay Kumar for the sequel to the court room drama Jolly LLB; there were a lot of rumours about the filmmaker adding a star value to the second instalment. The first film in the franchise had Arshad Warsi playing the protagonist and when he heard about Akki’s association with the court room drama, he voiced out similar thoughts about star value. The trailer of the film that released recently, has however, left Arshad mighty impressed.
Akshay Kumar who plays a lawyer in this film, wages a war against the system for justice and Arshad was so glad to see the trailer that he took to social media to share his feelings. He tweeted, “Finally saw the trailer of Jolly LLB2. Love the new Jolly. Looking forward to it, all the best to @humasqureshi @akshaykumar & @subkapoor.” To which, Akshay too responded saying, “Thank you for the love & luck Arshad, glad you liked it.”
When it was revealed that Subhash Kapoor would not be collaborating with Arshad Warsi for Jolly LLB 2 there were rumours of fallout between the two. When Arshad was questioned about his disassociation with the franchise, he had mentioned that the producers, Fox and Subhash were looking out for a bigger star to cast in the film in order to ensure better box office numbers. This soon fuelled up speculations that Arshad was unhappy and that this had left Akshay miffed. However, the former’s gesture about appreciating the trailer has put these gossips to rest and so has Akshay’s response.
In fact, Akshay Kumar reportedly had stated to a daily that if it wouldn’t have been Arshad Warsi, Jolly LLB would have never turned into a franchise in the first place. On the other hand, filmmaker Subhash Kapoor too had mentioned that though every franchise of Jolly LLB will be a court room drama, the cast will keep changing.
While the first one had Boman Irani and Amrita Rao as the leading the cast, Jolly LLB 2 stars Annu Kapoor and Huma Qureshi in addition to Akshay Kumar. It is slated to release on February 10.
