One wouldn’t like to call it a hoax, as Arijit Singh is too much of an artiste to indulge in gimmicks. But it seems Arijit Singh is not retiring from playback singing after all: at least not for a long while.
Apparently, Arijit has more than 30 complete and incomplete unreleased songs lined up with various composers which would take at least one year to be released.
So what was the rush for announcing his retirement from playback singing? This seems like an instant-replay version of Vikrant Massey’s break announcement last year.
A producer-actor, who is collaborating with Arijit said, “When I read his announcement, I panicked. But he assured me he would be completing his pending assignments, mine included. He also mentioned he has approximately 30-35 songs to be released over the coming months. I think it would be a good two years before Arijit completes all his pending assignments. And who knows what will happen then? He may change his mind.”
So, why the retirement announcement? It makes no sense to tell the world what will happen two years from now.
