Imtiaz Ali's latest directorial venture Main Vaapas Aaunga continues to receive appreciation from members of the film industry following its theatrical release on June 12. The latest to join the growing list of admirers is filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who shared a heartfelt note praising both the film and its director. Taking to social media on June 16, Kashyap expressed his admiration for Imtiaz Ali's storytelling and encouraged audiences to watch the film in theatres.
Referring to the filmmaker's recent work, he wrote, “The fresh brand new @imtiazaliofficial. After his first film CHAMKILA, his sophomore film MAIN VAPAS AAOONGA is running in cinemas. Go watch it and I love you Muttonkhor. Keep inspiring and breaking our hearts.”
Kashyap also jokingly added, “Aur mere humdumon ko chori karna band karo, human bhi kaam karna hai. BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY,” before congratulating several members of the creative team behind the film, which also includes his former wife Aarti Bajaj.

His post is the latest endorsement for Main Vaapas Aaunga, which has attracted praise from filmmakers, actors and critics alike. Earlier, actor Adivi Sesh shared an extensive review of the film on social media, describing it as one of Imtiaz Ali's finest works.
“#MaiVaapasAaunga is a Modern Day Classic about an Era Gone by. Truly one of #ImtiazAli sir's best films,” Sesh wrote. He praised the film's exploration of relationships, memory and human emotions, adding that it reflected “the belief in the human yearning to want love, to give it, that LOVE is bigger than any amount of Hate that the world can throw at us.”
Sesh also commended the performances of Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari and Rajat Kapoor. However, he reserved special praise for veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. “The EXTRAORDINARY center of the film however is #NaseeruddinShah Saab, the Legend. No amount of praise can do justice to the nuances, the pauses and the supreme craft in what is truly a Masterclass in acting,” he wrote.
Author and filmmaker Tahira Kashyap also shared her thoughts on the film, describing it as an emotionally moving experience. “This is what a legend makes. If love had a language it would be this film,” she wrote.
Praising Imtiaz Ali's storytelling style, Tahira added, “There was a constant lump in my throat, heart was pining for the unrequited love, tears were streaming down my cheeks as if they intuitively knew what the characters felt. Only Imtiaz Ali could have created this magic.”
Produced by Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment and Window Seat Films, Main Vaapas Aaunga explores themes of love, identity and belonging against the backdrop of Partition. The film features an ensemble cast led by Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari and Naseeruddin Shah.
