South Korean singer-actor Bae Suzy is ready to return to the small screen for Coupang Play’s upcoming thriller series Anna.

According to Korean tabloid Soompi, Anna will tell the story of Yoo Mi, a woman who tells a small lie and ends up living someone else’s life. In the newly released teaser, Yoo Mi emerges from a crashed car with her bag in flames as she sets the scene saying, “People write lies even in diaries that are read solely by them alone.” The first few scenes in twhe teaser show glimpses of Yoo Mi’s ordinary everyday life and is shown living in a rundown one-room, working multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet.

While working as a maid, she seems to take notice of an elegant, well-dressed and seemingly well off woman in the room as someone says in the background, “I’m worried about Yoo Mi. She has so many things she wants to do, so many things she wants to eat.” In the next scene, Yoo Mi transformed into Anna, confesses, “I was jealous,” as the teaser begins to show her living a contrasting life of Anna, a life of luxury, from her sparkling wedding gown, to attending private events reserved for the high class of society, etc. An unseen person asks her, “By the way, do you have two different names?”

As things begin to go downhill, Yoo Mi finds herself in danger, and says, “I don’t know where to start in explaining this to you. The story of how Lee Yoo Mi became Anna.” Based on the bestselling novel Intimate Stranger written by Jung Han Ah, Anna is directed by Lee Joo Young. The drama stars Bae Suzy, Jung Eun Chae, Kim Jun Han, among others.
