In his message, Kapoor recalled how his connection with Shashi Kapoor began during his childhood, when he played the younger version of the late actor in the film Tu Payal Mein Geet. He noted that the experience left a lasting impression on him and marked the beginning of a journey shaped by admiration for the senior actor.

Kapoor also shared that Shashi Kapoor was among the first in the film industry to recognise his interest in acting. He remembered receiving the Dilip Kumar Actor’s Trophy from him during his college days, describing it as a significant moment at a time when he was still trying to establish himself. Reflecting on his personality, Kapoor described Shashi Kapoor as a gentleman who carried a deep love for cinema, both as an actor and as a producer.
