The Holi special episode of Wheel of Fortune turned into a laughter-filled celebration as Akshay Kumar was joined by Anil Kapoor, Radhika Madan and Saurabh Shukla for a lively and engaging evening.
During the episode, an audience member revealed that he is a huge fan of Anil Kapoor and Akshay Kumar, and an even bigger admirer of the film Welcome. He shared that he had brought along the iconic Majnu Bhai painting and wanted to know the story behind it.
Responding to the curiosity, Anil Kapoor revealed that he still owns the original painting. Teasing fans about the future of the franchise, he said, “sabse pehle toh Akshay Sahab ke saath maine ye film ki thi Welcome 1, fir 2 mein ye nahi the, fir 3 mein mujhe nikal diya aur Welcome 4 hum fir saath mein karenge.” The statement instantly sparked excitement among the audience.
Talking about the painting’s popularity and the memes surrounding it, Anil added, “Log ye painting ke saath memes banate rehte hain, magar iske peeche ek depth hai, ek story hai, aur ek seriousness bhi hai. Aap log iska mazaak uda dete ho, memes bana ke, aur log sochte hain, kaisi painting hai.”
The audience member further mentioned that t-shirts featuring the painting are also available in the market. Radhika Madan revealed that she owns one herself. To everyone’s surprise, Anil Kapoor quipped that he earns money from those t-shirts, leaving Akshay Kumar visibly shocked.
Delving into the deeper meaning behind the famous artwork, Anil explained, “Iske peeche ek philosophy hai” He described how the painting features a horse and a donkey — the horse being active and fast, while the donkey represents the opposite. Asking the audience whether they saw themselves as a horse or a donkey, most responded with ‘horse.’ Anil humorously elaborated that while the horse does all the hard work swiftly, the donkey takes away the appreciation — comparing the horse to an employee and the donkey to the boss — sending the audience into fits of laughter.
The festive episode blended Holi cheer with humour and nostalgic anecdotes, offering viewers an entertaining peek into the story and philosophy behind one of Bollywood’s most iconic cinematic symbols.
