Anek Trailer: After Article 15, Ayushmann Khurrana once again asks some uncomfortable questions; does a Shah Rukh Khan from Chak De India

en Bollywood News Anek Trailer: After Article 15, Ayushmann Khurrana once again asks some uncomfortable questions; does a Shah Rukh Khan from Chak De India

Anubhav Sinha in his 2.0 avatar has been surprising and wowing audiences. With Mulk (2018), he changed gears and came up with a powerful courtroom drama, dealing with communal issues. Article 15 (2019), meanwhile, made a hard hitting comment on the caste system. Thappad (2020), on the other hand, commented on the patriarchy like never before. And now he's back with Anek, starring Article 15 actor Ayushmann Khurrana. Bollywood Hungama had a sneak peak of the trailer (which will be out on May 5) and we can say that it'll be a film to watch out for.

Anek is set in the North East part of India. This time, Anubhav Sinha tackles the issue of racism and how the residents in this crucial part of the country continue to be treated as second class citizens. Interestingly, Anek is also an action fare and the trouble caused by two rebel groups should make for a good watch. A parallel track of a local resident and her personal battles is intriguing.

However, its Ayushmann Khurrana and his dialogues that take the cake. Just like in Article 15, he's again playing a righteous character who likes to ask the most uncomfortable yet important questions. Article 15 had a memorable scene where Ayushmann asks questions on caste to explain how we have complicated the scenario needlessly. A scene in the same zone will be seen in Anek where Ayushmann Khurrana argues with a Telangana resident about why can't we be Indians and not North Indian or South Indian for a change. It also gives a nice deja vu of Shah Rukh Khan's 'I-N-D-I-A' dialogue from Chak De India (2007).

Anek also has scale and hence, can make for a great watch on the big screen. Anubhav Sinha impresses as he makes a comment even in the action scenes. For instance, showing a book on Mahatma Gandhi being shot at in a shootout is a masterstroke.

Post pandemic, it is being said that only big films will succeed in cinemas. Anek, which releaes on May 27, will prove this notion wrong, if the trailer is any indication.
