Ananya Panday made her acting debut in 2019 with the film Student of The Year. However, even before the release of the film, Ananya would be in the news owing to her actor-father Chunky Panday and her close friendship with Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's daughter Suhana Khan and Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor's daughter Shanaya Kapoor. Moving away from the shadow of her actor-father, Ananya has made a place for herself in the industry with her work. While today she is the leading lady in multiple films, during her childhood she was not quite the star of school plays.

Ananya Panday had earlier revealed that in school plays she would always be in the background- in all likelihood playing the role of a tree, standing with her arms raised. "I would audition but never land the main role," she had once shared.

However, that has changed and she is one of the most prominent leading ladies of the Hindi film industry, no longer lurking in the background. She was last seen in the multi-starrer Gehraiyaan in which she was cast alongside Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa. Despite it being a multi starrer, Ananya stood out with her performance.

In a recent interview with Elle magazine, she was asked about this transiting from being in the background to being in the foreground. "The first time I saw myself on a poster, or each time a new song of mine is released, I'm just happy that I get to be an actor. My dad has always taught me that success is so transient- it's constantly changing. He's always taught me to just be happy while working, and work with good people and I guess that's what success means to me- its happiness," she said.

On the work front, Ananya Panday has started working on her upcoming film Kho Gaye Hum Kaha alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav. She will also be seen in the pan-India film Liger starring Vijay Deverakonda.
