Bollywood's most popular icon Amitabh Bachchan has yet another accolade to add to his collection. The actor was awarded with the Global Diversity Award in Delhi on Wednesday, September 11. Amitabh was presented the award by Speaker of the House of Commons, Rt Hon John Bercow MP.
Amitabh posted about the happiness of receiving this felicitation on his blog saying, "The Honourable Speaker at the House of Commons in the British Parliament opens up his historic home inside the Houses of Parliament in London to welcome me for the Global Diversity Award, which incidentally has been presented to a rather small number of dignitaries, world wide ..."
Claiming to be one of the few greatest honour he has received, Amitabh said, "This is a rare and a huge honour ..and it came about because of the Charity that Keith Vaz Honourable Member of Parliament, in the House of Commons established and gave me the privilege to be its International Global Patron .."

One of the major reasons behind receiving this award was Amitabh's recent association as a Global Patron with the diabetes charity Silver Star. Talking about the disease, Amitabh posted, "Diabetes is a 'silent killer', it erupts in the body and many do not know that they have the disease until it's too late. Its detection and as early as possible, can then be treated within time to either defeat the ailment or keep it cautiously functional but in a manner that it never has adverse effects on one."
After receiving this felicitation in India, Amitabh is gearing up for the International Broadcasters Conference which will be held in Amsterdam.
