The Amazon Prime Video event was a memorable one for multiple reasons. The streaming giant announced nearly 40 original titles and also the association of Amazon with exciting theatrical releases. Sajid Nadiadwala came on stage and he revealed that his next four films will release on Amazon Prime Video after it’s run in cinemas. These 4 films are Kartik Aaryan-starrer Chandu Champion, Ahan Shetty-Pooja Hegde starrer Sanki, the multi-starrer comic caper Housefull 5 and Tiger Shroff’s action entertainer, Baaghi 4.
Sajid Nadiadwala said, “I’d like to share a secret. Internally, when we work with all our actors, me and my team try to ensure that the actor gets his biggest hit. With Kick (2014), we gave Salman Khan his first Rs. 200 crore hit. With Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, we gave their biggest hits – 2 States (2014) and Judwaa 2 (2017). We also had Chhichhore (2019).”
Sajid continued, “Our team is dedicated 24x7 to filmmaking. We don’t know anything else! I started in the 1980s. I assisted some great directors. And the best thing that happened is that I got great partners. I think Amazon is a great partner. One of the essential part of filmmaking is also how you distribute and present your product to the world. In that regard, there’s not a better platform than Amazon Prime Video.”
During the announcement of Sanki, Ahan Shetty said, “It’s going to be a roller coaster of emotions and will have lot of entertainment.” Pooja Hegde promised, “Just expect the unexpected. Its going to be not what you think.” When asked if she’d like a ‘sanki’ boyfriend, she replied, “Yes. Sanki but in a good way. A little bit of madness is nice.”
During the Housefull 5 segment, Sajid Nadiadwala revealed, “We started this film in 2007-08 I think when the films were not doing well and the cinemas were not going house full. So, I thought the easiest way in this situation (is to make a film named Housefull)!”
He added, "I am grateful to the audience for helping us reach the fifth film. It is the first franchise in India to have a fifth part. (Points to director Tarun Mansukhani) I hope you take us to number 6!”
Tarun Mansukhani quipped, “He’s going to make sure that the title is there inside (the theatre). I am going to work hard enough to get the house full board outside!”
The crowd then erupted as Tiger Shroff came on stage to announce Baaghi 4. Tiger raised eyebrows as he said, “I have been introverted and shy while growing all my life. I got my first girlfriend at the age of 25! That’s actually thanks to my producer Sajid Nadiadwala. She happened to audition for my debut film. That’s how I met her. Thanks to Sajid sir, I got my first girlfriend.”
When host Varun Dhawan asked if he was referring to Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff clarified, “Nahin, uske baad waali!” The actor probably hinted at Disha Patani, who was paired opposite him in Baaghi 2 (2018). Varun also hammered twice that his Kriti Sanon reference was made in a lighter vein.
When asked what’s different in Baaghi 4, Tiger Shroff answered, “We are exposed to such amazing big scale action films. What differentiates Baaghi is that most of the action we shoot is live. It’s very raw and real. We don’t rely much on weaponry. The character himself is a weapon!”
Sajid Nadiadwala added, “The moment he lifts his hand, there are bound to be whistles in cinemas. All three films of Baaghi had an emotional quotient. The audience wants the character to go and hit the baddies. That is when the (entertainment) level goes up.”
