Actor Alia Bhatt recently opened up about the women who have shaped her personal and professional journey, while also sharing a candid glimpse into her hopes for her daughter’s future. In a conversation with Femina, the actor spoke about the influence of her family, her support system at work, and why she hopes her young daughter may grow up to be an athlete.
Speaking about the women who helped shape her perspective over the years, Alia Bhatt credited her mother Soni Razdan as one of her strongest influences. She reflected on watching her balance motherhood with her continued passion for acting. “I think, starting with my family. My mother, the strongest, most impactful influence growing up, watching her navigate through raising me and my sister, and still keeping the fire of wanting to be an actor alive in herself, whether she did it through theatre or through television,” she said.
She also spoke about her sister Shaheen Bhatt and her openness about mental health. “Then my sister, the way she’s been so outspoken about her journey with mental health and depression,” Alia added.
Beyond family, the actor highlighted the importance of the women she works with closely, describing her professional circle as a strong collaborative support system. According to her, their perspectives and energy have played an important role in shaping her outlook. “They all add so many different layers of support, opinion, perspective, and just energy to my life. I love when everything feels like a team effort,” she said.
During the conversation, Alia Bhatt also shared a personal note about her daughter Raha Kapoor, revealing that she hopes the three-year-old may take an interest in sports as she grows older. “I wish for her to actually be an athlete. She’s so competitive and she’s so athletic. She’s only three, but she really jumps around like a bee in a bonnet,” she said.
The actor further explained that her appreciation for teamwork extends beyond parenting and into her creative process as well. She described filmmaking as a collaborative space shaped by dialogue and differing viewpoints rather than agreement alone. “I don’t surround myself with people who say, ‘Yes, yes’. Who do everything I say. I love conflict and I love the ‘No’, or the ‘Okay, why do you think that way?’,” she said, adding that she enjoys the exchange of perspectives that comes with working closely with others.
