Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha had an informal meet and greet with the press where they discussed their first production, Girls Will Be Girls. They also announced the upcoming titles from their production house, Pushing Buttons Studios and shared interesting information about them. One project that caught the eyes of one and all is RiAlity. It’s a wedding documentary that documents the love story and wedding of Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha. It is directed by Rahul Singh Datta.
Talking about RiAlity, Ali Fazal remarked, “It’s not a documentary as such. It's a series of events that were captured around our marriage.” He then narrated an interesting anecdote, “It was a time when I was shooting for Mirzapur 3, Richa was shooting for Heeramandi and we were raising money for Girls Will Be Girls and also shooting it. Ussi waqt hamare shaadi ka bhi silsila chala. We have seen time jahan hum shaadi ki tayyari kar rahe hai aur wahan paise kam pad rahe hai! Aisa damaadol mamla chal raha tha. Thank God, we somehow managed.”
Richa Chadha further explained, “We were shooting for Girls Will Be Girls. Beech mein kuch issue hua. Somebody had committed money to us (and they didn’t adhere to the commitment). Then suddenly, Ali and I had to invest in the film. And it was clashing with our wedding. Toh shaadi ki jo brands aayi, woh humne divert kar di (laughs). After all, bahut badnaami hoti agar pehli film ruk jaati toh! But we are glad we did that. The film has won awards and it’s a film we’ll all be proud of.”
Girls Will Be Girls recently won two significant awards at Sundance - Audience Choice Award for Best Film and a Special Jury Award for the outstanding performance by lead actor Preeti Panigrahi. It has also been chosen for the South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival. It is considered to be one of the largest and most renowned film festivals globally. The festival will be held in Austin, Texas, from March 8 to 17.
Recently, Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha also announced that they are going to be proud parents soon. Richa was asked about this and she quipped, “I am sure the foetus is hearing your question!” She added, “I hope we make good parents and the child spreads kindness in the world.”
