Actors Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth have come forward in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, which is a cleanliness drive being organized on Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, October 2.

Akshay Kumar posted a picture of himself cleaning and sweeping a beach on his Instagram handle. He captioned the post, "Cleanliness is not just about physical spaces, it is a state of mind. Being out of the country couldn't stop me from paying a tribute to Swachhata Abhiyan. So I would say where ever you are, do your bit to keep your space, and mind, clutter free. #SwachhataHiSeva"

Rajinikanth also posted a message on his social media accounts, urging people to keep India clean. He wrote, "A healthy environment begins with a clean environment.. Let's keep India clean... #SwachhBharat @SwachhBharatGov"

Earlier, Rajkummar Rao, who participated in a beach clean-up drive in Mumbai, also spoke about the importance of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. He said, "This is a very important initiative. We all should take part in Modi ji's 'Swachta hi Seva' as it is very important to keep our city and country clean."

The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign is being organized on Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation's vision of a clean India. PM Modi has appealed to people to participate in the cleanliness drive for one hour on October 1.

On the occasion of Gandhi’s 154th birth anniversary, PM Narendra Modi took to his social media and wrote, “I bow to Mahatma Gandhi on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. His timeless teachings continue to illuminate our path. Mahatma Gandhi's impact is global, motivating the entire humankind to further the spirit of unity and compassion. May we always work towards fulfilling his dreams. May his thoughts enable every youngster to be the agent of change he dreamt of, fostering unity and harmony all over.”
