For Akshay Kumar, Saturday proved to be the longest day ever in his life. This comes shortly after a 20 hour single shooting stretch that he did recently for friend Lara Dutta‘s film where he has a cameo to play. However, while for Lara’s film, he spent one full day and night on a single set, on Saturday he was multi tasking by visiting half a dozen odd places for different events.
Informs Farah Khan, with whom Akshay spent most of his time for different activities related to Tees Maar Khan, “Hats off to this guy. I am seeing new facets of his professional attitude practically every day since I started working on Tees Maar Khan. Not many are aware that his grandmother had expired on Thursday. He had to be in Nashik on Saturday to lay her ashes to rest. We had the Tees Maar Khan beach event planned for Saturday evening and Akshay actually informed me not to worry as he would be back in Mumbai on time.”
This was not all, as Akshay actually stuffed a couple of other activities on Saturday as well. After hopping in and out of a helicopter from Nashik and back, he also rehearsed for an awards function that he had to attend in the night. From there he landed straight on Juhu beach for the Tees Maar Khan promotional event where he and Katrina jigged along to ‘Sheila Ki Jawani‘ (amongst other songs that were performed). Post that, he reached the venue for the awards night where there was an action packed performance planned for him.
“I looked at him in awe, as, despite a tiring 12 hours behind him, he was all set to fly over 500 odd audiences without any harness. I have now directed him in a film but here I was, sitting like an audience and a fan, and watching him do all these stunts. I could well imagine his mental and physical state given the fact that his grandmother had expired and he has been in and out of 3-4 events by now”, says Farah.
However, this was not the end of it all, hence justifying Akshay’s claims of this being the longest day in his life. After the event, he headed back to a dubbing studio where he wrapped up further portions of Tees Maar Khan.
“I don’t know from where he does he get all this energy”, smiles Farah, “Akshay was there till midnight dubbing for the film. And to think about it, picture abhi baaki hai mere dost… as this event just marked the end of one leg of promotion of Tees Maar Khan. From here, we start travelling across various cities all over the globe. It is going to be one hectic promotional tour over next two weeks.”
She adds on breathlessly, “I am ecstatic with the kind of support that Akshay as well as Katrina are lending to the film. Do you know that she even skipped an overseas tour this month so that she could give her 100% to Tees Maar Khan before and around its release? This is the kind of commitment that makes you further sure that you have done something right with your film.”
