Bollywood veteran Aamir Khan has reportedly taken on the role of mediator in an ongoing dispute between actor Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar’s production banner, Excel Entertainment, over the troubled Don 3 project.
The conflict stems from Ranveer’s unexpected departure from Don 3, the third instalment of the popular action franchise, which was announced with Singh in the lead role in 2023. After Ranveer exited the film amid reported creative differences, Excel Entertainment is said to be seeking nearly ₹40 crore in compensation, citing substantial pre-production investments and losses incurred following the actor’s exit. The production house claims it had already spent heavily on script development, scheduling and related groundwork before the project stalled.
Ranveer’s camp, sources say, has pushed back on the compensation demand, insisting the actor did not receive any advance payment and was not compensated for scheduling disruptions caused by other shelved projects. There were also reports that the creative disagreements were tied to dissatisfaction with the script. In the latest twist, several prominent producers and studio heads were spotted attending meetings at Aamir Khan’s Mumbai residence, fuelling speculation about the star’s involvement. Industry insiders now suggest that Aamir has taken on the role of an informal peacemaker, hosting discussions aimed at finding an amicable resolution.
A source familiar with the talks told local media that “Aamir is trying to resolve the issues between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment,” adding that the meetings are focused on bridging differences that have drawn widespread attention across the industry. The situation remains fluid, with no official statement yet from Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar or Excel Entertainment.
