30 years ago, Deewana released on June 25, marking the debut of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. However, the film is also remembered for its super-hit soundtrack. From 'Aisi Deewangi' to 'Koi Na Koi Chahiye' to 'Sochenge Tumhe Pyaar' to 'Teri Umeed', every song of the film is fondly remembered even today. Guddu Dhanoa, one of the producers of Deewana, spoke about this aspect of the film during an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama.

Guddu Dhanoa revealed, “We shot ‘Aisi Deewangi’ in Shimla. By that time, the music had been released and was already a super duper hit. Taxi mein, auto mein, sab jagah yeh gaana baj raha tha.”

Guddu makes it clear the music was one of the biggest USPs of Deewana, “Nadeem-Shravan’s music was mindblowing. Music played an important part in the opening of the film.”

He then shared an interesting anecdote, “I had heard that Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t look good in songs. This was a time when he had shot for King Uncle and the rumours had started from there. I told Shah Rukh about it that ‘maine suna ki tu gaana gaate hua accha nahi lagta’. He replied, ‘I am doing 5 films already and the sixth film is yours. Agar yeh filmein meri chali, toh fir main Bombay mein rukunga. Agar nahi chali, toh main Bombay chod ke chala jaunga.’ He then said, ‘Lekin ek baat bolu? Main chalunga hi chalunga!’ Such confidence he had! I still remember this conversation vividly, though I don’t know if he remembers it. It took place in an auto rickshaw when we were heading to Versova from Poonawala Bungalow in Madh Island where we were shooting for the film.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s entry uplifted the film and those who said he doesn’t look good in songs had to eat their words. Also, to see him doing the stunts on the bike in the song ‘Koi Na Koi Chahiye’ is an exhilarating feeling even today.

Guddu Dhanoa stated that SRK was quite game about doing the bike stunts himself. When discussing the scene where Shah Rukh slides over a slab of ice, Guddu said, “That was my idea. In fact, I also gave the idea of how the song should start and that Shah Rukh’s first shot should be him riding the bike on the Princess Street Flyover.”
