Among the iconic roles played by actors on films inspired by real life events, Guru remains to be one of the most memorable movies featuring Abhishek Bachchan in the lead. Showcasing the rise, the success, and the fall of a business tycoon named Gurukant Desai, the film was inspired by the life of Dhirubhai Ambani, the founder of Ambani group of industries. As the film completes 17 years, an emotional Abhishek decided to dedicate a special post in honor of this Mani Ratnam directorial on social media.

Abhishek Bachchan took to Instagram to share a video of some of the most popular photos of his looks as Guru. While the film showcased the different phases of Gurukant’s life, which transcends from his younger days to his aged looks, the actor received a lot of appreciation for the realistic portrayal of Gujarati businessman. On the other hand, the film also featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as his leading lady and onscreen wife Sujata Desai. Along with these photos, the video clip features a message that reads, “Guru is and will always be close to my heart”. The actor, in his post, also tagged the entire team of the movie musician A R Rahman, and actors who essayed key roles like Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, and R Madhavan, and Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies.

Proud father Amitabh Bachchan also voiced out similar sentiments in his comments where he gushed about the movie saying, “The best ever .. immaculate and unbeatable”. Actors like Sonali Bendre and Bhumi Pednekar along with several fans shared their love for the movie and also appreciated the brilliant performance of Abhishek Bachchan.

Guru went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of that year with it winning five Filmfare Awards and went on to become a milestone in the career of Abhishek Bachchan.
