10 Reasons why we should ignore rather than attack Karan Johar’s host roast

1. While a section of our people are going red in the face condemning the alleged obscenity, the AIB guys must be laughing all the way to the bank. I mean, when you do something to scandalize and you succeed, you've obviously hit home, right?

2. The content of the December 20 Roast has gone on Youtube. That means it's outside the domain of Indian censorship. In which case you've two choices: enjoy the material in the spirit of the sleazy porn sites. Or ignore it in the same spirit.

3. 'Let the filth begin' says host Karan Johar. Isn't that warning enough for the squeamish and for those who are concerned that children would be influenced by Karan Johar into singing lurid parodies of the 'Kuch kuch hota hai' song laden with lewd phallic allusions.

4. If anyone, it should be Javed Akhtar who should be laughing loudest at the hailstrom of lewdness unleashed at the Roast. 16 years ago when he was offered to write the lyrics for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai he had declined saying he found the title vulgar. Karan Johar had laughed off Javed's poetic misgivings. I guess the poet knows best.

5. It's a free country....Or so we thought. We are allowed the freedom to enjoy what Karan Johar so frankly refers to as filth. We are, however, not allowed the freedom to protest or feel offended by the filth. If you frown, you drown. Period.

6. Ranveer Singh who went down on all fours doggie-style to hint at what he would like to with Canine....sorry, Karan Johar, is playing Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 17th century Maratha Peshwa Bajirao. It's always good to not take yourself seriously so that no one would ever dream of taking anything you do seriously. Don't worry, Ranveer. No matter what you play we'll only be remembering you playing doggie on stage for Karan.

7. Forget who was on stage doing what, to whom. Check out the audience on that filth-ful December night. BJP parliamentarian Shatrughan Sinha's daughter and the industry's most credible spokesperson Mahesh Bhatt's daughter. They were laughing their guts out. They wouldn't have laughed if it wasn't really funny. Dignified Deepika Padukone chuckled constantly even when Karan said the only good thing Ranveer has been in lately is Deepika. Well, ahem. It must have been hilarious. No two ways about it.

8. The film industry was never known to have a sense of humour. Now when some prominent celebrities actually got together to prove they can laugh at themselves, we must all laugh with them. It's the least we can do, right?

9. Since most of the gags and jokes that evening were about reproductive organs why spoil the anatomical jamboree? Let the bodily fluids flow and let them swamp all our misgivings.

10. And now, they've removed the controversial video from Youtube. A bit like shutting the gates after the horses have bolted. But what the hell, at least we are now free of ....errr... filth until the next roast which Parineeti Chopra is definitely not attending.
