Abbas-Mustan’s thriller NAQAAB has indeed shocked the industry with its tepid start at the ticket window. The film was expected to fetch a favorable start [at least 80% +], considering it’s a solo release, but the 30% - 40% start came as a complete surprise. However, the two distributors this writer spoke to were confident that the collections would increase from Saturday onwards. It’s a wait-n-watch situation!
Meanwhile, HARRY POTTER, released simultaneously in India with its U.S. release, has opened to packed houses everywhere. The opening was 80% - 90% [and more] at most screens. Fantastic!
