Amidst new ventures and collaborations (Best Deal TV being one of them), one of Shilpa Shetty's firms have landed her in legal trouble. The actress along with Raj Kundra owns Essential Sports and Media Private Limited and a Kolkata based company by the name M.K Media Private Limited have accused the actress and her husband of a Rs. 9 crores fraud and a police complaint has been filed on behalf of the additional director of the company Debashis Guha.
As per the complaint registered with the police, the actress and her entrepreneur husband had apparently persuaded the firm to invest Rs. 9 crores in their venture (Essential Sports and Media), by promising a return of ten times the said amount within a span of two years. What followed was the allotment of 30 lakh equity shares that was given to M.K Media over their Rs. 9 crore investment that the complainant reported to be bogus and fake.
Prior to this, the company had also filed a civil suit against Shilpa Shetty's Essential Sports and Media at the Kolkata court, asking the refund of Rs. 9 crore, which they claimed to be a 'induced investment'.
According to Deputy Commissioner Murli Dhar, the police has registered a case against the owners (Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra) on the charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, criminal intimidation.
Though Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty did not talk about this sudden turn of events publicly, they decided to respond to the allegations by using Twitter as their medium.
