Shahids Gesture For Shiamak

This is one incident celebrated choreographer Shiamak Davar will never forget. While recording an episode of JEENA ISI KA NAAM HAI [a celebrity show on television where the viewer gets an insight into the personal and professional life of the big and famous through their family, friends, colleagues etc.] a few days back, all those who’ve been associated with Shiamak were requested to be present at Film City, Goregaon, Mumbai. Shiamak’s family and close friends reached the venue on dot, barring Shahid Kapur, who had been a part of Shiamak’s troupe [S.D.I.P.A.] for four years before ISHQ VISHK happened and catapulted the youngster into an overnight teen sensation. Not many are aware that Shahid had also been a part of a dance number in Subhash Ghai’s TAAL, which was choreographed by Shiamak. Coming back to the show, frantic phone calls to Shahid were met with the standard reply, I am on my way. Time continued to trickle by and the director of the show decided to shoot the episode with those who had made it to the venue. Just when the show was about to be canned, Shahid made a dramatic entry to the studio. Shooting on the other side of the town for an under-production film and fearing that he might get late for the shoot of his mentor [Shiamak], Shahid travelled to the far-away studio at a zooming speed not in his BMW, but on a bike. What could’ve easily taken him more than one hour in a car, he covered the distance in twenty minutes flat on his bike! In an industry where people forget their roots the moment they climb the ladder of success, Shahid surely proved an exception that day. The reigning heart-throb could’ve reached late, or failed to show up, yet no one would’ve actually complained. Goes to show that some people remain unchanged despite the dazzle of Bollywood!
