Post the high profile assassination of a prominent crime journalist, Bollywood is abuzz with films being made on the nexus between the underworld and crime reportage. Well-known producer and director Sanjay Gupta, known for his stylized films, is all set to make a sequel to Shootout At Lokhandwala, titled Shootout At Wadala.
Talking about the film, Sanjay Gupta says, "We have been looking for a suitable story for a while now. With this, we have finally found something based on a true story."
Shootout At Lokhandwala was a big hit at the Box Office when it released in 2007. The film was directed by Apoorva Lakhia. However this time, Gupta is going to direct it himself. Says Sanjay, "I am currently scripting it along with Hussain Zaidi, but unlike the previous film, I will also be directing it."
Further Sanjay adds, "Shootout At Wadala is based on the 70s and 80s. Besides this is more like a saga rather than just one shootout."
The film will be going on floor by the end of this year and the shoot will be wrapped up in four months. When asked about the starcast of the film, Gupta refused to reveal any details.
"The star cast cannot be revealed right now, instead we will be making a formal announcement of it soon," he says.
