Riteish’s Marathi film turns ‘bhaari’

This is how things turn out for best, especially when it comes to one of the nicest people around in the industry. Riteish Deshmukh, who has seen universally positive response coming his way for a terrific act in Ek Villain, is now super charged about his next release Lai Bhaari. While the film was already hot in the trade circles, Riteish’s escalated visibility in last few weeks has made the distributors and exhibitors super excited about the actor who would be seen in an action avatar.

“Even though the film is in Marathi, it would now be released in certain other selected pockets of the country as well,” informs our source, “There is a good chunk of Marathi speaking audience in cities like Indore, Baroda and Gwalior to name a few. Lai Bhaari would be penetrating these pockets as well.”

This isn’t all as the film would also be arriving with English subtitles, hence bringing the film closer even to those who don’t follow Marathi language.

“As such, this is a straight forward action drama with commercial ingredients, and hence language is no bar. Still, Riteish wanted more and more people to watch the film and be entertained. Hence, the film would be arriving with subtitles all over,” the source adds.

Meanwhile, there is a flurry of activities at his production house, what with feelers coming in from North India as well for the film’s screening, especially after its promo was seen with Ek Villain and Humshakals. As a result of that, there is some probability that Lai Bhaari may be first mainstream Marathi film to find selective release in multiplexes up North too.

“Well, we are still trying to figure that out and would go ahead if everything falls in place. We would not like to bite more than we can chew. We need to make sure that Lai Bhaari gets a correct release. Thankfully, out here in the Maharashtra belt, there has been some good curiosity already, even though we are yet to embark on a full-fledged campaign,” says Riteish who has roped in director Nishikanth Kamat (of John Abraham‘s Force fame) for the film.

What is certain though is that Lai Bhaari, which boasts of the highest budget ever in the history of Marathi films, would be seeing the widest release ever for a regional film in Maharashtra with the highest print count and show timings.

Guess, the man who was known for his impeccable comic timing is now also turning ‘bhaari’ over his contemporaries when it comes to experimenting with genres.
