Percept Picture Company threatens to sue Anees Bazmee

Percept Picture Company has sent a legal notice to filmmaker Anees Bazmee for defaulting on paying back a refund of Rs. 51 lakh that was paid to him for a film called Jeb Hamari Maal Tumhara that was never made.

Percept Pictures Company (PPC) had given director Aneez Bazmee a signing amount of Rs. 51 lakhs, four years ago as the advance payment for a film Jeb Hamari Maal Tumhara, which Anees was to direct for PPC. The film never got made and PPC claims that Bazmee didn’t return the signing amount.

The production house has been following up with Anees regarding the return of the signing amount since the last four years, but to no avail. Percept Pictures has now appointed an arbitrator and served a legal notice to Aneez Bazmee but they haven’t received any response from the filmmaker. The matter will be soon in the court.

Anees Bazmee, on the other hand, admitted that he had received the money, but claimed that he had fulfilled the conditions mentioned in his contract. He had written the script and worked very hard on the film, but getting the actors was not his duty. He claims that the producers couldn’t get the actors and that is why the film got stalled.

A court case is likely to be filed by next week.
