Is Shahrukh not financing Devdas?:

Sanjay Leela Bhansalis DEVDAS is in the news since the time it was launched. For various reasons. The film was under a spotlight again when Bharat Shah was arrested. Many in the industry felt that the shooting of this mammoth venture would come to a grinding halt due to financial reasons. Since the past few weeks, the news making the rounds of the industry is that Shah Rukh Khan, who essays the title role in the film, has taken over the project. But Sanjay Leela Bhansali scoffed at the news when this writer spoke to him about it. Thats not true at all! I would not deny that Shah Rukh has been co-operation personified, but he has not taken over the reins of the film, Bhansali tells me.BR> But what about the news that SRK had decided not to ask for his under-production instalments (as part of his remuneration) and would take it only when the film is complete? Well, I wouldnt like to comment on that. Thats between Shah Rukh and Bharatbhai, he adds.BR> And what about the rumours that Universal Music had relinquished the music rights of the film and the Sony had stepped in? Sanjay laughs, Well, I have heard that too. But theres not an iota of truth in it. The music rights are with Universal. After a pause, Sanjay adds, I want to convey to all, please let me make the film in peace. Its strenuous to make a film of this magnitude, but disgusting to hear such stories at the end of the day. DEVDAS is being shot on an opulent set at Mumbais Film City and the entire work on this set would be complete by June-end. Thereafter, a few days work would be balance to wrap up the entire shooting. The film is at present 60% complete.
