If the past few years have witnessed a number of star-sons making their big screen debut, its now the turn of producers kin to follow suit.
While Keshu Ramsays son Aryeman made his debut in the Rajkumar Santoshi-directed FAMILY TIES OF BLOOD [with Bachchan and Akshay as co-stars] in January 2006, three hi-profile producers are launching their sons as actors.
Harry Bawejas son Harman has been launched opposite Kareena Kapoor in LOVE STORY 2050, a sci-fi fare that begins in 2006 and ends in 2050. A futuristic film, it will have special effects in co-ordination with a Hollywood studio.
Suneel Darshan has decided to launch son Shiv in 2007. Theres so much happening in 2006. With so many biggies starring the biggest of stars slated for release in 2006, its better that Shiv is launched in 2007, Suneel reveals the strategy he plans to adopt.
21-year-old Shiv is already learning the ropes of acting, besides dances [Veeru Krishna] and gymnastics [Hes an exceptional gymnast, the proud father adds]. The director of his debut vehicle, in the meantime, is still undecided. I would love to direct Shiv, but nothing is final yet. It all depends on the script, he says.
Vashu Bhganani has also decided to launch son Jackie in 2007. In fact, the 22-year-old has already undergone training at the famed Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in U.S.A. and is currently polishing his skills in diction, dances and martial arts in Mumbai. He should be well prepared before he jumps in the fray, Vashu tells me.
Vashu has decided to take his sons opinion vis–vis the director and script before he launches him. I want the script and director to be of Jackies choice. I dont want to cast him in a project that would not suit his personality. As a father, I dont want his debut vehicle to backfire, Vashu states.
