Dishoom to be submitted in encrypted format to CBFC to avoid piracy

Every filmmaker is trying to tackle the piracy menace and after multiple film leaks in the past fe weeks. Now the makers of Dishoom want to ensure that their forthcoming film doesn’t become yet another victim of online leak. Hence, we hear that this film has now become the first one to be submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification in an encrypted format.

The past few incidents of film piracy which included the leak of Udta Punjab and Great Grand Masti were said to be copies that were submitted to the CBFC for certification. While filmmakers are striving hard to take precautions and prevent any such incidents further, the board has decided to certify films only if they are submitted in the DCP-KDM format. Talking about his film, producer Sajid Nadiadwala expressed his gratitude towards CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani for this initiative and even asserted that he will further take this suggestion to the Indian Film and Television Council and discuss about safety measures. This digital version of cinema which is submitted digitally via a pen drive or USB Flash drive will be apparently encrypted in such a way that as soon as the movie plays, it will be locked immediately thereby ensuring that there is no scope for any kind of theft.

Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt, though was of the opinion that this is an expensive proposition for producers who may have to shell out extra for the digitalized process, he did agree to the fact that it is a necessary step to be taken in order to safeguard films from such illegal acts of online piracy.

Directed by Rohit Dhawan, Dishoom stars John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Akshaye Khanna in prominent roles and it is slated to release on July 29.
