Censor passes ‘Adharm’ with 40 cuts

Director Adeep Singh’s debut film Adharm starring Rahul Dev is the latest one to face problems with the censor board. The censor board had problems with some scenes in the movie and asked the director to revise the film. But since that was not possible, the censors finally cleared the film with 40 cuts of which 33 are sound cuts and 7 are visual cuts. The director does believe that this will strongly hamper the prospects of his film. But since Singh doesn’t want to delay the release of his film any further, he is going ahead without any fight with the censors or rework on the film, leaving it on the audiences sensibility to perceive his film. The film revolves round the clash of Indians and those Muslims who support Pakistan despite the fact that they reside in India. It also takes a peek at the selfish corrupt functioning of the Hindu fundamentalist leaders. The director claims that though his film is realistic and hard-hitting, it’s not in any way an Anti-Muslim film. Apart from Rahul Dev, the film stars Namrata Shirodkar in the role of a Maharashtrian chawl girl, Sonali Kulkarni playing a social worker, Sayaji Shinde in the role of a Hindu fundamentalist leader and newcomer Rocky Khanna playing Rahul’s younger brother.
