Boney Kapoor is all geared up to set a new record in 2002. The star-producer is all set to break Vashu Bhagnanis record of having the maximum film releases in one calendar year. For, Boney will not have three, but five films hitting the theatres in 2002. Unbelievable, but true! Starting with KOI MERE DIL SE POOCHE, which opens this week, the second to follow will be the Nana-Karisma-SRK starrer, which is already complete. The problem is, Ive yet to manage an appropriate title for this film, Boney tells me, adding in the same breath, Ive more or less finalised a title that suits the subject of my film SHAKTI but the rights to the title vest with producers Mushir-Riaz. Im trying to request them to part with it. The promos of this film are also ready, but the title is of paramount importance, without which he obviously cannot start the promotion of the film. Coming up next will be COMPANY, which is a co-production with Ramgopal Varma. The massive hoarding at Juhu is already attracting the attention of the onlookers, we tell him. The campaign will get even more dynamic in the coming days, he divulges, adding that the film will be one of the most thought-provoking films to release this year. Once COMPANY is released, Boneys office will be geared up to release the Kareena-Fardeen starrer KHUSHI, a remake of the South Indian blockbuster KUSHI. This film will release in June/July. But the year will end with an English film, TAKE IT EASY, which, according to Boney, falls in the same genre as HYDERABAD BLUES. The film is complete and censored too, but I am waiting for the opportune time to release it, the prolific producer reveals. Packing five films in a year is no mean achievement, we tell him. Hopefully, Ill qualify for the Producer of the Year award next year, he jokes.
