'Baaz-A Bird in Danger' was launched with a gala mahurat on Tuesday, 30th July 2002, on a massive set, erected at Filmistan Studios. The launching was done in a flamboyant style. A giant red-eyed eagle with a giant screen on the left hand side of the dias was the focal attraction for the invitees. A sound-track with hard-hitting dialogue was played. Thereafter a 30 seconds promos of the 'Baaz' with special effects was shown to the invitees. Co-producer Veena Verma wife of Tinu Verma, broke the auspicious coconut and marked the beginning of the mahurat ceremony. Guest producer-director Rajkumar Santoshi sounded the clapper board; while Tinu Verma directed the mahurat shot on Karisma Kapoor, Dino Morea and Jackie Shroff. Sunil Shetty who plays one of the lead role could not attend the mahurat, as he was abroad. One more big heroine is under finalisation. The mahurat was well attended by a huge gathering of unit members of the fourth estate and electronic media. Glitteratis who graced the ceremony included Pahlaj Nihalini, Sujit Kumar, Ratan Jain, Suneel Darshan, Vinay Galani, Arjun Hingorani, Politician Narendra Verma, Rahul Rawail, Hasmukh Shah, Pravin Shah, Vinod Shah, Anil Sharma, Bobby Deol, Arbaaz Khan, Darshan Sabharwal, Sajid Nadiadwala, Mohan Godha, Madan Mohla, Babloo Pachisia, Mahendra Dhariwal, Anil Nagrath, Shahbaaz Khan, Preeti Jhangiani, Jagdish Sharma, Sunil Saini, Manmohan Singh, Vicky Kumar. Deepak Sharma and others. Tinu Verma is excited about this project. Speaking about the film, he says, Baaz-A Bird in Danger is a romantic thriller. The theme line of the film is that a saviour is not a killer, or a killer is not saviour. Revealing more on the storyline, he adds, The film is based on a backdrop of Nainital, where most of the shooting will be held. It deals with a psycho killer. Jackie Shroff plays a mayor's son in Nainital. Karisma Kapoor is an architect who goes to Nainital to develop Jackie's plot. Dino Morea is a painter and a singer too. Sunil Shetty plays a cop. All of them are attracted towards Karisma. He further adds that he has already recorded four songs of this film under the supervision of music director Ismail Darbar.
