According to Hindu faith, nothing is holier than Banaras. And an epic like Ramcharitmanas, which originated in this sacred city, is nothing less than the most sacrosanct of all. Setu Creations, makers of the film – Banaras – A mystic love story, have accomplished the ultimate to bring alive the mystical aura of this divine city.

For the first time in the history of Indian cinema the audience will get to see some breathtaking footage of the 400 year old preserved manuscript of Ramcharitmanas written by the 16th century poet Tulsidas. According to a legend, Lord Ram appeared in Tulsidass dreams and commanded him to re-write the epic Ramayana in the lay mans language. Tulsidass creation is acknowledged as a masterpiece and revered as one of the most sacred texts by the Hindus. This manuscript has been protected by the Sankat Mochan Trust in Banaras and no one has ever been allowed to get close it. The manuscripts are open for public viewing only during special occasions.

For the first time ever, it was Mahanthji Veer Bhadra Mishra, trustee of the Sankat Mochan Trust, who allowed a film crew enter the temple at Tulsidas home and film the manuscript.
