Akbar Khan’s ‘Taj Mahal…’ being sabotaged

Piracy in not something new to Bollywood. But ever heard a filmmaker involved in the process of piracy. Thats what has happened to Akbar Khans mega- budget magnanimous opus Taj Mahal. In an urgently called press conference by Akbar Khan on Saturday, December 27, 2003, the filmmaker claimed that DVDs and VCDs bearing the imprint of his film Taj Mahal An Eternal Love Story were making rounds of the market but the copies inside the cover werent of his film. The CD played to show a film with a similar title Taj Mahal – A Monument of Love directed by Robin Khosla. Though Akbar Khan did not directly point fingers towards Robin Khosla, he didnt deny the fact that there was a strong possibility of Khosla being involved in the process of maligning his reputation and films stature. Khan alleged that this might be Khoslas gameplan to earn some easy money by selling his film on the name of Akbar Khans film. Robin Khoslas Taj Mahal – A Monument of Love which was released a month back on November 21, fared so badly at the box office that it could not sustain in the cinemahalls for more than 2 days. Khosla had also attempted to cash in on Akbar Khans name at the time of releasing his film, as his film couldnt create any interest among the audience thanks to its zero face value and nil publicity. He had removed his name Robin Khosla from the promotional stills of his film and added the tagline of Akbar Khans film An Eternal Love Story as the start catch line of his film. Akbar Khan has asked the audiences not to fall prey of the gimmickry of this false CDs as his film has not yet been let out and is quite secure with him. He is planning to release his film somewhere in May in midst of the holiday period while the music will be released on February 14, which happens to be the Valentines Day.
