Rockstar, One of the most eagerly awaited movies of 2011.A lot is expected from the movie as its stars Ranbir Kapoor , Is directed by Imitaz Ali and has the music score of AR Rahman.Rock star is the journey of a boy - who leaves behind Janardan to become Jordan; who traverses the highs and lows of life - from simple naivete to tortured soul, from the pleasure of unaffected friendship to the torment of unrequited love, from the campus in Delhi to the international stage… He ultimately gets all that his heart has ever desired…but in the process shatters / loses his heart forever.
Rockstar Has a new story , a new concept which has not been tried much in bollywood before.the screenplay follows a non-linear pattern.the first hour is entertaining.it has lots of funny moments , emotional moments etc.the pace dips in the second hours a bit.although the second hour has its moments but it isnt as gripping as the first hour.Jordan's stardom is well catapulted by the director but the love story fails to evoke the emotions in the latter parts.the climax seems a bit confusing but Ranbir's stage performance on the track 'nadaan parindey' fills in well. dialouges are praiseworthy.background score is fantastic.one of the main plus points of rockstar is its music.AR Rahman gives us a gem in the face of rockstar.'sadda haq' , 'tum ho' ,'nadaan parindey', ' hawa hawa (well picturised)' , 'katiya karoon' and many more. each track is a gem.cinematography is topnotch.imtiaz ali again impresses, but love aaj kal and jab we met rank better among his works.rockstar works just because of its rockstar i.e RANBIR KAPOOR.the actor is surely the next superstar in making.he plays each and every part well.the immatured janardhan or the transforming janardhan to jordan or the frustrated jordan.he emotes a lot through is expressions in the second hour.his stage performances are a treat to watch.surely rockstar belongs to ranbir kapoor.
nargis fakhri , making a debut with rockstar falls short of expectations.she tries very hard to get the role of heer right but she secceds in just few scenes.altough her chemistry with ranbir is electrifying.she still has a long way to go.its a treat to watch the veteran shammi kappor for the last time on the big screen.no word would be enough to describe his persona onscreen.aditi rao does a good job.kumud mishra is superb. his comic scenes are a relief in otherwise tense moments.
piyus mishra is a brilliant actor and he proves it again with rockstar.shernaz patel is decent.moufid aziz is good.overall,ROCKSTAR has a good entertaining first hour but a slow second hour is a little disappointing.the film totally belongs to ranbir kapoor.despite the flaws its surely a worth watch.
