2.5 Good

Players

Players,The first biggie of 2012 has arrived with humongous expectations not only because of its fantastic promotion and publicity ,but also because it being a remake of the hollywood classic 'Italian Job'.Abbas Mustan have always delivered fresh and engaging thrillers.does Players add to that list ? the answer is a bit yes and a bit no.Players has an interesting and engaging story about a heist performed by a con group.however the screenplay does not fully justify the otherwise interesting story.the first hour has its share of good and unexciting moments.the train robbery however is shoddily written and looks unreal in most of the parts.the second half has quite twists and surprises as one expects from an Abbas- Mustan thriller.but the climax leaves a lot to be desired.the length of the movie goes for a toss in the second hour .its unnecessarily stretched.some scenes do excite you but they are few and far between.the film bears a rich look throughout.camera work is excellent, the locales mesmerize your eyes.action is quite good but does not match the standards of 'Italian Job'.the car chase in the climax is fairly done.music is good.direction by Abbas Mustan is fair but a lot more is expected from the duo.coming to performances, players has various characters but only few manage to impress you.Abhishek Bachchan does a fair job.Bobby Deol is wasted.he is quite okay in his scenes.Neil Nitin Mukesh does quite well however he goes over the top in some scenes, he is quite good.Sonam Kapoor seriously need to work more on her acting skills.she surely disappoints.Bipasha Basu handles her job quite well.she also looks ethereal.Sikander Kher is plain average.Omi Vaidya manages few laughs.
Vinod Khanna is alright.Johnny Lever is superb .Aftab Shivdasani is okay.
Shweta Bharadwaj is just there for one scene.Overall, PLAYERS has some exciting and many unexciting portions. It entertains you partly but one surely expected much more.
