Golmaal Returns was the most awaiting movie for me of 2008. Its is equal to the previous one, nothing better than first one. Dont get me wrong, this movie also rocks! The story rocks, except for the hanging scene at climax, which could have been much better. This movie is owned by Tushar and Shreyas. Kareena was overrated in the movie, which was not necessary. Ajay was ok, like previous one. Arshard was excellent as before, but he wasn't in as much scenes as the other three were. Whenever I think, "There is not much scene of Arshard"... and that time his scene would come. He is the main reason I wanted to watch the movie.

Cast - Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Tushar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley, Anjana Sukhani. Director - Rohit Shetty. Rating - ** Review - Gopal (Ajay Devgan), who lives with his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor), sister Esha (Amrita Arora)and a dumb brother-in-law Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), gets stuck in a yacht after saving an attractive woman Meera (Celina Jaitley) from some goons. Both end up spending the night on the yacht and when he comes home the next day, his painfully suspicious wife who is also a hardcore fan of the "saas-bahu" serials, smell fish. Gopal knows it's going to be hard to quell her suspicion so he concocts a cock-and-bull story about having stayed the night with a fictitious friend called Anthony Gonsalves. Ekta refuses to buy his yarn and writes to Anthony (on a fictitious address given to her by Gopal) asking him to visit her.Gopal convinces his junior at work, Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) to pretend to be Anthony. Everything goes according to plan till the address to which Ekta had written to Anthony turns out to be real! If that isn't complication enough for Gopal, a dead body is discovered at the location where he had saved Meera. The Investigating Officer, Madhav (Arshad Warsi), who is Esha's boyfriend and also who cannot stand the sight of Gopal, learns that the latter had been missing from home that eventful night and begins checking on him. Okay, all of remember the funny "Golmaal", the prequel of the movie. But sadly, there's nothing at all to remember in the sequel of "Golmaal". The movie creates a pretty bad impact on it's viewers. Despite of some funny moments of the movie, the movie looses it's momentum very often. There are loads of irritating, slapstick moments which tries to make the viewers laugh but ends up disappointing. The direction is pretty poor. Not a good one this time Rohit, unexpected. Ajay was okay, fine in some of the scenes. Tushar was fine, but irritating at times. Arshad was okay & the rest were fine. So what are the missing elements this time from it's prequel? There is no Sharman Joshi, which is a huge let down for the movie. Poor music, prequel had far better music. The direction, it's pretty poor this time. Yes, there are some funny moments, specially the spoof on some disasters of Bollywood like Tashan & Saawariya is quite funny, but the cheap comic moments in the movie makes the movie dull, especially the climax. It's better to term the climax of the movie as "Frustrating, irritating & very boring". Poor show this time by Shetty. It's getting too much with the same contents Mr. Shetty, better change your way of making movies now. Mania!Meter - 45%

Mr.Adarsh ...What are you talking about...are you a good critic? I know this movie is not awesome but it is not bad too...that you have to mention so many things in a Diwali opener...apart Fashion which is for classes only not for the masses...I thought you are a good critic but very disappointed this time like some other crappy reviews.Okay, lets get into subject..mana ki Golmaal Returns is not the best but see man!! it is ten times better than your good reviewed Sing is King and twice as better as Om Shanti Om.Seriously, all the movies are below average in point of comparison with good movies as Rang De Basanti..but every movie is not a Guide or RDB or DDlJ...You have to be considerate..And the thing I seriously dont get is DUde!why just other actors movie you think are not good besides SRK,Aamir and Akshay. There is Ajay Devgan who is the dark horse and the best performer and Anil Kapoor or even sometimes John and Abhishek to name a few..They act DUDE...Try to be more relastic next time while revewing and dont give wrong impression of a film to the people before they watch as you can ruin a lot of people's Dewali Man.Come on be justiceful with other Stars too..When your fav actors play even a crappy movie you give god review butg for an average entetainer you give crappy reviews..WoW Dude!this is not a good thing..And you know it.Let me ask you one thing what is the review with the crappy Himesh movie...what is the name..oh!!Karzzz....You guys should stop him from acting otherwise westerners and other people will think there is nobody in India to act!!! Go and watch Golmaal Returns with your family as a mass Indian in the Deewali time and have fun ... Last thing Golmaal Returns is a typical average entetainer better than Karzzz or OSO or Sing Is King but not Spiderman Returns yaar it is made by Rohit Shetty(still new to business)not by Yash Raj or Subash Ghai..be considerate Dudes.

This movie is a so called 'sequel' to the best film of 2006, Golmaal. But there is hardly any connection in the story apart from the male characters! But Golmaal Returns is a breezy entertainer, has already done quite well at the B.O. This is not as good as the prequel though. <P> It is another of the typical slapstick comedies we have seen recently. Ajay Devgan is this exporting senior in a fishery which reportedly exports drugs. Kareena is a house wife addicted to the typical Saas-Bahu serials and Amrita Arora is his sister. Lucky(Tusshar) is Kareena's brother, a hair stylist. Arshad Warsi is again Madhav Singh Ghai, but this time a cop in Goa. He and Gopal can't stand each other. <P> Loosely based on the 1973 film Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar, Golmaal Returns revolves around the story of 1 night. That night, a fellow working in the fisheries where Gopal works is killed and all his fingers are cut off. Gopal keeps having fights with him, so Inspector Madhav doubts Gopal of killing the man. But that night Gopal saved Meera(Celina Jaitley)from a bunvh of crooks and had to spend the night at the dock because both their cars were spoilt. But he can't say that because then his ever suspecting wife Ekta will think something happened between them. So this becomes Golmaal all over again! <P> But there is a problem in this film. The script. It's very silly! But the dialogues are efficient from Farhan-Sajid. The one-liners are ever-green in this masala entertainer and one could leave the hall reasonably pleased with the comedy. <P> Performances?? Well, Kareena and Ajay totally rule this one, Talpade and Tusshar were also quite good. Anjana Sukhani is really sidelined. So not much scope for her. Celina is also impressive and Amrita Arora and Arshad Warsi are strictly just above good. <P> GR has the capacity to do well, and may it do so! Go for this one if you wanna have a blast with jokes!

In all respects, Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevisions has only done one justice to Golmaal Returns - and that is the high gloss and style they've put into the film. Golmaal is a soulless venture which depends so much on its stylishly shot locales and scenery that it falls back on silly, slapstick humour which only a child could enjoy. Yes the film does warrant a few giggles, but you walk out feelingdoubting the film's true worth in comparison to the 45 crore price tag and what more, was it worth the money you spend on your tickets?

I really enjoyed Golmaal.... But I didn't enjoy Golmaal Returns that much.... On the whole Golmaal Returns is an average entertainer... no where close to its first installment. The film has a few enjoyable moments, but mostly the film is meaningless and loud. At the box office, Golmaal Returns will do well... but not as much as the first!
