Ajab Isn't Ghazab !! 5 4 3 2 1 ok here it goes Yesterday the recent much hyped Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani released..Rajkumar Santoshi gave us a cult classic comedy Andaz Apna Apna .. and his last movie Halla Bol was also a good film .. and ofcourse the pairing of Ranbir and Katrina is another reason to watch the film ..So one expects very much with this romantic comedy flick..so is it worth ? Well, APKGK is frankly speaking an okay movie.It is funny but in parts.It has that same old story with nothing fresh in it except the pairing. The story goes as follows: Prem (Ranbir Kapoor) is a hopeless,uneducated and care free person.He is the president of a club called Happy club which is good for nothing.His club's policy is to unite lovers and keep everyone happy.He accidentally meets Jennifer or Jenny (Katrina Kaif) and starting liking her.Later he realizes that he loves her but find it difficult to tell her.He tries to impress her in all possible ways.But the movie takes a turn when Jenny tells him that she loves some one else.Prem is heartbroken but promises that he will reunite Jenny and her lover according to his club's policy. The movie is funny but only in some scenes.One doesn't expect this from Rajkumar Santoshi after a memorable comedy like Andaz Apna Apna.The dialogues of the movie are the best part.All the tracks of the movie are good especially Tera Hone Laga Hoon and Tu Jaane Na which are very romantic and fabulous.And I have to say this, the entry of the song Tu Jaane Na is very situational and awesome. First half entertains you somewhat but second half goes down with (some times) mediocre comedy.The climax provides some laughs but its completely non sense.When Katrina hits Ranbir again and again in the climax , it reminds you of Andaz Apna Apna's climax.The direction is fine but could have been better.The main culprit over here is the script.Still the screenplay manages to make you laugh mostly.Cinematography is nice as it wasn't too hard to frame only sets but for the song Tu Jaane Na, it was amazing.Background score is nice specially the Tera Hone Laga Hoon background. Talking about the cast, Ranbir Kapoor is truly the best of all the present generation's actor in Bollywood.After Wake Up Sid, he did an appreciable job in APKGK.His comic timing is perfect and he also manages the bechara , uneducated and happy go lucky type of guy's role well.Katrina is amazing with her acting.She's looking very pretty and cute and delivers a sweet performance.The chemistry between Ranbir and Katrina is magical.They act very naturally.Darshan Jariwala and Smita Jayekar are funny whenever they are on screen.Zakir Hussain was actually good.Upen Patel is a complete non-actor.Why did he get casted when we have several good actors in the industry.Well , God Knows.Salman Khan's special appearance was a surprise and was also a treat.And the rest of the cast like Govind Namdeo,Katrina's Parents and Ranbir's friends , they all have done a fine job. So the final verdict is APKGK is a one time watch movie.Its funny but not very funny.Watch it for Ranbir & Katrina miraculous chemistry and their fantastic performances,Tera Hone Laga Hoon & Tu Jaane Na,truly funny dialogues and ofcourse for some really funny scenes it deserves **1/2 out of 5
