Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Fasil starrer Vikram partners exclusive with Disney+Hotstar

Once again returning as Vikram will be Ulaganayakan Kamal Haasan in a Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial. A teaser of this action thriller was unveiled two years ago. While the film is all set to the hit the screens next month, the makers of the film have locked an exclusive deal with Star Network, aka, Disney+Hotstar. The movie is all set to release in June and the release date was announced in March, this year.

Not just that, Pen studios' Distribution division Pen Marudhar has acquired the Hindi Distribution rights of the Vikram. After being associated with the release of films like Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRR, Dr. Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Marudhar has collaborated with this Kamal Haasan starrer and the actor's production even announced the news on Twitter:

 

 

From the teaser that was released in June, Vikram seems to be an out-and-out action thriller. Although the details of the film’s plotline are under wraps, it is being said that expectations are riding high on the film owing to the superb star cast. While someone like a Kamal Haasan needs no introduction, Vijay Sethupathi has carved his name in South cinema with his brilliant performances in many films and Fahadh Faasil too has been a part of some coveted multi-lingual projects.

 

Interestingly, the title of the film seems to be inspired from yet another Kamal Haasan starrer namesake film that released way back in 1986. Although the teaser doesn’t showcase any similarities with this old film, the background score is inspired from the title theme of the 80s film. As for the 80s film Vikram, it was a spy action thriller featuring Vikram as a secret agent and starred Satyaraj, Amjad Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Lizy in pivotal roles.

 

The new age Vikram is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and the music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is also expected to feature Shanvi Srivastava in a special guest appearance as Kamal Haasan’s love interest. The film will be releasing globally on June 3, 2022.
