Suriya to kick off work on his next with Venky Atluri; makers drop pictures from a grand pooja ceremony

Following the recent release of Retro, actor Suriya has officially announced his next film - a collaboration with Lucky Bhaskar director Venky Atluri. The film, currently referred to as Suriya46, was launched with a grand pooja ceremony on Monday, May 19. The event was attended by key members of the team, including director Venky Atluri, producer Naga Vamsi, leading lady Mamitha Baiju, and music composer GV Prakash Kumar.

Marking a special moment at the launch, filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas gave the ceremonial first clap, officially kicking off the project. The announcement was made by Sithara Entertainments through their official handle on X (formerly Twitter), where they also posted photos from the event. “The most anticipated 'Suriya 46' has been officially launched with a grand pooja ceremony! Suriya x Venky Atluri unite to create magic on screen! Thank you Trivikram garu for gracing and marking the beginning of this journey with the first clap,” read the caption.

 

 

Meanwhile, producer Naga Vamsi expressed happiness over this collaboration and added, “I still remember watching Suriya garu travel all the way to the US in the same outfit when he first met Meghna in Surya S/o Krishnan. From dreaming of doing something like that one day… to now making a film with him today.. it truly feels magical. It’s an absolute honour, sir… @Suriya_offl <3 We promise this fun family entertainer will bring back those kind of nostagalic moments…  an experience you’ll cherish forever! #Suriya46 ~ Written & directed by our dearest #VenkyAtluri – In cinemas, Summer 2026!” While a release date is yet to be revealed, producers also confirmed that filming will begin by the end of May.

 

 

GV Prakash, who is composing music for the film, expressed his excitement in a series of posts on X. Sharing a photo with Atluri, he wrote, “After 'Lucky Baskhar', 'Vaathi' my third combo with my most successful combination director. Let’s rock this Venky Atluri here is 'Suriya 46'.” He also shared a picture with Suriya and Atluri, adding, “After 'Soorarai Pottru' joining hands with Suriya sir. This album will be as special as SP. This one is for u Suriya sir. We have got a fantastic film and album on hands. The songs have come out superb (sic).”

 

 

 

With a promising team and strong musical backing, Suriya46 has already begun generating buzz as one of the most awaited films in the coming year.
