From Ramayana to Kantara 2 to G2: 2025’s most anticipated big-budget Pan-India films
With new movie releases slowing down and re-releases of old films filling theatres, the cinema-going experience seems to be in a transitional phase. As audiences wait for fresh content, the question of what the future holds for theatres becomes more pressing. Fortunately, 2025 promises to deliver several big-budget Pan-India films that could reinvigorate the industry and reignite excitement at the box office.
Movies like Ramayana, G2 (Goodachari 2), Salaar 2, Kantara: Chapter 1, and Dacoit are being produced on massive budgets and are slated for theatrical releases next year. These films, featuring top-tier stars and high-concept storytelling, are expected to draw huge crowds and dominate box offices across the country.
Veteran film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh remarked, “I think it’s a great and healthy trend that older movies are being re-released in the theatres right now. It’s not new because you know the 70’s and the 80’s also saw phases of older films being re-released.” Looking forward to 2025, he commented, “Especially, at a time when there’s a vacuum of content being released in the theatres, these upcoming Pan-Indian releases are definitely something I’ll look out for. And the south Indian film industry has consistently pushed out good content so I’m looking forward to the coming year.”
With a lineup of highly anticipated films, 2025 might just be the year cinema bounces back in a big way.
