Keerthy Suresh reveals 6-month career halt after Mahanati: “Even no one narrated a story”

Keerthy Suresh, who is currently promoting her upcoming film Revolver Rita, has spoken candidly about how her National Award-winning performance as Savitri in the 2018 biographical drama Mahanati continues to shape her career even today. Despite the film’s massive acclaim, she revealed that the period immediately after its release was far more challenging than many would imagine.

Sharing her experience at a recent press event, Keerthy said, “You don't believe, after the Mahanti release, I didn't get any movie chance for 6 Months. Even no one narrated a story. I was not down, because I didn't do the wrong thing. I took it positively, that people are taking time to shape a unique character for me. I used that gap for the makeover.” Her statement highlights the unpredictable nature of the film industry, where even celebrated performances don’t always translate into immediate opportunities.

 

Keerthy’s next film, Revolver Rita, features her in a bold and quirky avatar. The film stars Radikaa Sarathkumar, Redin Kingsley, Mime Gopi, Sendrayan, and veteran stunt master Super Subbarayan. It also marks director JK Chandru’s return after his 2013 film Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham.

 

The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Dinesh Krishnan B, editor Praveen KL, and art director Vinoth Rajkumar. It is produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy, with Aishwarya Suresh serving as the creative producer.

 

In 2024, Keerthy appeared in four films Siren, Raghu Thatha, Baby John (Hindi), and she also voiced Bujji in Kalki 2898 AD. Revolver Rita will be her first Tamil release of the year. She was recently seen in Uppu Kappurambu, directed by Ani IV Sasi, alongside Suhas, Babu Mohan, Shatru, Talluri Rameswari, and Subhalekha Sudhakar.

 

After its theatrical run, Revolver Rita is set to stream on Netflix, offering fans yet another chance to catch Keerthy in a striking new role.
