Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam film Nayakan to rerelease in November in superstar’s birthday week

Known for her versatility, Kamal Haasan continues to garner love for his roles. The actor, who left everyone in awe with his action-packed avatar in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram, will be receiving a special gift this year on his birthday, November 7. As per current reports, Kamal Haasan’s highly acclaimed collaboration with Mani Ratnam, Nayakan is all set for rerelease during the birthday week of Kamal Haasan.

From what we hear, Nayakan is slated for a grand rerelease in cinemas in 4K format and if these reports are to believed, the makers have locked in the date November 3 for the same. For the unversed, Kamal Haasan will be turning 69 this year and it seems that his fans as well as filmmakers want to give this as a special present for the superstar. Further reports have maintained that the crime action drama will have a major release across different cities in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.

 

Speaking of Nayakan, the film gained critical and commercial acclaim, with Kamal Haasan going on to win the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film. Besides him, the film also garnered 2 more National Film Awards for Best Cinematography as well as Best Art Direction. Apart from being influenced by The Godfather, and also the real-life story of the Bombay underworld don Varadarajan Mudaliar served as a major inspiration for the film and traced the journey of Velu Naicker from an ordinary slum dweller to a feared don. The film also featured Saranya, Amala, Nizhalgal Ravi, Janagaraj, Nassar, in pivotal roles. It also garnered a lot of accolades for its music composed by the evergreen Ilaiyaraaja.

 

The news comes at a time when fans of Kamal Haasan are eagerly awaiting the release of the actor’s iconic silent black comedy film Pushpak, which is also expected to rerelease soon.
